CENTRE FOR MIDDLE EASTERN
The Mahmoud Salih Collection
of Bergen recently received a unique book collection on the Sudan. The
book collection belongs to the Sudanese businessman Mahmoud Salih and
UoB will keep the collection at The Centre for Middle Eastern and Islamic
Studies for at least five years before it will be returned to the Sudan.
The collection contains about 2000 volumes of literature on the Sudan
written in European languages. Some of the books are from the 18th century.
Mr. Salih's collection also includes over forty rare Sudanese painings. These paintings and some of the books was displayed at the exhibition "The Sudan - Treasures from the Mahmoud Salih Collection" in Galleri 3.14 from October 6th - November 16th 2006. >>
